The Strangler Fig, a duality of Uganda


the towering power
strangles the host tree-


local life crushed by an
outside force
pushing
growing
denying
suppressing


down


until the intruding
branches
reach the
ground and take




root. 

Rootwrapped, entangled,

caught in another's 

tightening fist-

the host tree

watches the 

w i d e n i n g

grip, 

the fig's royal crown 

grows,

soon overshadowing the 

tree. 

Eventually, the host tree dies.

This agent of death 

devours its host,

local life crushed by an

outside force

pushing

growing

denying

suppressing

down.
