Dance

Parenting is especially rewarding when you see your children enjoying an interest that you helped foster but were not necessarily good at yourself. Ever since my daughters were born, I have surrounded them with music. And ever since they could crawl, I have danced with them just about every day.

I am not what anyone would consider a good dancer. I try but it is not a natural skill I possess. But I have always loved singing and dancing to tunes. And now to see my daughters loving music and taking dancing classes, it makes me very happy. I am so proud of their moves and more importantly, the pleasure they seem to take from being a part of a performance on the stage. The joy I felt at being part of a team in sports, they seem to derive from being a part of the show. Good for them!

On Saturday, they participated in a huge dance performance that culminated the end of their weekly dance classes. Rosie did her Bollywood moves to "Desi Girl" and Bella did her street jazz to "It's On." Jill and I were simply amazed at all of the performers for their poise and choreography. These girls were all able to excel and fill the big stage with a very entertaining show.

Earlier this month, Bella performed at the second grade Variety Show with her friend Nyad. They choreographed the routine by themselves and despite her broken wrist, Bella made sure the show went on.
